So, just before coming back to Uni, a few friends and I entered our first competition. We gave ourselves 2 weeks to communicate ideas and produce our project from the brief of playscapes, which essentially looked at turning a mundane and perhaps forgotten space into something a bit more fun. The competition was run by Building Trust International.
Our approach was using the city of Sheffield, take an area that maybe is used everyday, but not to its potential. We focussed on trying to bring some fun into the lives of the adults of the city. To do this, we looked at patterns of usage of the city and selected places where people congregated and took public transport.
From there we developed an interactive public scheme using redesigned swings as a basis.
